Independent filmmaker, who makes non-objective, abstract films, lately by computer-programming, living and working in Rotterdam.

Born 11/2/1940, Ferwerderadeel, The Netherlands.




Lived successively in Smilde, Hoogeveen and Emmen until 1958.
Between 1958 and 1965 he studied at the Technical University in Eindhoven.



After his service in the Dutch army, he worked as an electronic engineer from 1966 until 1974,
first at the Shell Laboratory for Exploration and Production in Rijswijk,
later with Philips-Electrologica at the division Computer-Peripherals in The Hague.
In the period 1974 - 1975 he worked as a teacher in physics at a high-school in Waddinxveen.



In the years 1976 till 1979 he visited the Cine-Workshop at the Vrije Academie in The Hague.
The teachers Frans Zwartjes, Paul de Mol and Jaques Verbeek stimulated him and inspired him to do his own thing.
Between 1980 and 1984 he worked in the team of organisers of Filmhuis Gouda.
In 1981 his first film was finished.
It was shown in Hyères, France and on a tour in the USA, thanks to Peter Rubin, founder of Holland Experimental Film.
Until 2008 he has made 9 films, the first with classical animation techniques like the use of cells and cut-outs and the last five by applying self-written programs generating images on a computer.
